In Newport & Blaenau Gwent, we offer gender-specific groups for girls, boys and non-binary young people aged 11 to 15 who have experienced or witnessed domestic abuse.
This Ar Trac group work builds self-esteem, communication skills, and supports emotional development (age 11 to 16), led by young people and based on a group project (e.g. forest school or video production).
Cyfannol Women’s Aid offers groups for girls aged 11-15 across Monmouthshire and Torfaen who have previously lived in a home where there was an unhealthy relationship between adults.
These supportive, peer-led groups meet weekly for 8 weeks to work on small art and craft projects. The sessions offer an opportunity for the girls to listen and support each other, whilst developing their understanding of healthy relationships.
The focus is on: expressing ourselves in healthy and appropriate ways, positive communication, building self-esteem, resilience and coping strategies.
The boys group in Monmouthshire and Torfaen is part of our mentoring project. Mentor-led groups are for boys aged between 11 and 16, who meet for 12 weeks to engage in creative or outdoor activities. The aim is to build on their identity and prepare them to develop into confident, caring young men.
