Drawing on Cyfannol Women’s Aid’s experience of delivering housing-related support to women in Newport who are currently/at risk of sexual exploitation, this Support Service is being piloted on a floating support basis across the borough by an experienced sexual exploitation support worker.
This member of Cyfannol’s Horizon sexual exploitation support team will work alongside housing support grant-funded providers within Caerphilly, sharing knowledge and providing learning opportunities to encourage a joined-up approach to provision of this specialist support, with the ultimate goal of reducing homelessness for people experiencing sexual exploitation.
Referrals into the service are welcome from any agency or individual via our Online Referral Form. Our team support individuals who are being sexually exploited regardless of their environment/location, with needs and risk assessments completed to determine the support required.
Identified support needs could include:
As this pilot project is being delivered alongside Cyfannol’s wider Horizon sexual exploitation support services, we are able to offer food, clothing, toiletries and sanitary products, sexual health items and other essentials to help meet the specific needs of the individuals referred in. Women who wish to will also be welcome to access the dedicated drop in space in our Newport Hwb should they wish, as well as being encouraged to access The Live Fear Free Helpline, should they need to access an out of hours service.
