Children In Need a funder who support Cyfannol Women's Aid.

We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded £10,500 by BBC Children in Need, as a part of their mission to improve food resilience! This funding will significantly enhance our efforts to support children and young people in developing a greater understanding of how to tackle food insecurity.

As part of this initiative, we are thrilled to offer FREE cooking sessions for children and young people aged 5-17. These sessions will be led by Sara from Cookstars, who brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm for teaching culinary skills.

Our cooking sessions are designed to be both educational and fun for the children and young people we support. They will involve:

  • Budgeting Skills: Learning how to manage money effectively is a crucial life skill. Our sessions will teach children how to budget for meals, making the most out of their resources.
  • Valuable Cooking Techniques: They will gain hands-on experience in the kitchen, learning essential cooking techniques that they can take home and share with their families. These skills will not only help them prepare delicious meals, but also foster a sense of independence and confidence.
  • Interactive Food Games: To deepen their understanding of food origins and nutrition, children will engage in interactive games. These activities are designed to make learning about healthy eating habits enjoyable.
  • Promoting Healthy Eating: Our sessions aim to encourage healthy eating habits. By understanding where their food comes from and how to prepare it, children will be better equipped to make nutritious choices.
  • Saving Money: Learning to cook at home is a great way to save money. Our sessions will show them how to create cost-effective meals that are both healthy and delicious.

These sessions are only available for people currently accessing our services to sign up your child for the cooking sessions, please contact your support worker.

We are incredibly grateful to BBC Children in Need for their support in making this project possible. By empowering young people with the knowledge and skills to cook and budget effectively, we are helping to build a resilient and healthy future for our community.
