In a remarkable celebration of community, empowerment, and generosity, Cyfannol Women’s Aid recently took centre stage as the nominated charity at this year’s Torfaen Women in Business Event. Hosted by Torfaen Economy & Enterprise, the event drew over 100 businesswomen eager to make a difference in the lives of families fleeing abuse across Gwent.
The evening was not just about networking and business discussions; it was a platform for inspiration and shared experiences. Guest speaker Gaynor Coley, renowned for her work with the Eden Project, captivated the audience with insights into exciting developments for Torfaen. The founders of Solar Buddies also shared their journey, including their experiences on Dragons Den, offering a glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of building a business.
For the Cyfannol team, the event was an invaluable opportunity to connect with businesses that recognise the importance of their services. The overwhelming support received during the evening confirmed the commitment of the local business community to contribute to the well-being of those who have fled abuse.
The outpouring of support surpassed expectations, with numerous businesses pledging their assistance to enhance the services provided by Cyfannol. The understanding and empathy displayed by the attendees exemplified a shared vision of creating a safer and more supportive environment for women rebuilding their lives after fleeing abuse.
Adding a festive touch to the evening, a small Christmas market and a raffle were organised, with all proceeds dedicated to Cyfannol. Local businesses generously donated prizes worth hundreds of pounds, demonstrating the community’s commitment to making a positive impact.
The highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the impressive fundraising effort. Through the collective generosity of attendees, the event raised over £1,500. This substantial amount will contribute significantly to our vision that everyone is empowered to flourish in a life free from domestic abuse and sexual violence.
The Torfaen Women in Business Event proved to be more than just a networking opportunity; it was a testament to the power of community coming together for a common cause. As the nominated charity, we experienced a wave of support that will undoubtedly make a lasting impact on the lives of those we support. The success of this event not only reflects the generosity of the local business community but also highlights the potential for positive change when individuals and organisations unite for a meaningful cause.
