Community Volunteers Revamp Newport Garden

in Cyfannol Updates Share this

In the heart of Newport, amidst the hustle and bustle of city life, lies a hidden gem undergoing a transformation thanks to a collaborative effort from a dedicated team of volunteers from Celtic Manor Resort.

Recently, as part of our ongoing garden revamp project, we had the opportunity to partner with Business in the Community, thanks to a recommendation from KLA, to seek volunteer support. Our aim was to tackle several outstanding tasks essential to rejuvenating our garden. These tasks included repairing a weathered wall, refinishing furniture with a fresh coat of stain, and brightening up our fence with a vibrant new paint job.

The response was overwhelming. The Celtic Manor Cluster Team eagerly stepped up to the challenge. Five of their staff members generously volunteered their time and expertise, dedicating over 50 hours of labour to ensure our project’s success.

Undeterred by sweltering temperatures exceeding 30 degrees, the team brought enthusiasm and resilience to every task. Amidst copious amounts of water consumed to beat the heat, they transformed our vision into reality.

The impact of their efforts extends beyond physical renovations. Our garden isn’t just about aesthetics — it’s about creating a space of serenity in a bustling city. A place where individuals can find solace, heal from trauma, and nurture their wellbeing. The Celtic Manor Cluster Team understood this mission, and through their dedication, they helped us achieve that sense of peace.

Today, we stand in awe of what collective action can achieve. The revitalised garden stands as a testament to what can happen when community spirit and corporate responsibility converge. It’s more than just a garden; it’s a symbol of hope and renewal for those we support.

As we reflect on this transformative journey, we extend our deepest gratitude to the Celtic Manor Cluster Team, who contributed their time and effort, and to Business in the Community and KLA, who helped us make this community connection. Together, we’ve not only beautified a space, but also enriched the lives of those who will enjoy it for years to come.
