Specialist support for men who have experienced domestic or sexual abuse, harm, or violence.
At Cyfannol Women’s Aid, we are dedicated to supporting all individuals who have experienced domestic or sexual abuse, harm, or violence, including men. While our name reflects our history and long-standing commitment to women and children, our work is grounded in supporting all those affected by abuse, regardless of gender. We are here to help, providing a supportive, inclusive environment where men feel listened to and treated with dignity and respect.
We currently provide dedicated support for men who have experienced domestic abuse in Blaenau Gwent and Caerphilly, where we are commissioned by Council Housing Support Grant (HSG) teams to deliver these services alongside services for women and children.
Whilst the equivalent services in Torfaen, Monmouthshire and Newport are currently commissioned on a women-only basis, we are committed to ensuring that everyone who contacts us for support is provided with initial safety advice and signposted to services that can help them. If you aren’t sure where to turn, please reach out to us and we will direct you to the right support for you.
We offer a flexible refuge model which includes provision for men, with or without children, who need a safe place to stay. Through designated dispersed properties, we are able to provide safe, self-contained accommodation alongside tailored support. This approach recognises that individuals have different needs and circumstances, ensuring support feels safe, respectful, and appropriate for each person.
We provide specialist support for people of all genders who have experienced sexual violence, recognising the profound impact it can have on individuals’ wellbeing and sense of safety. Our services are available across Gwent and are designed to be inclusive, accessible, and responsive to individual needs.
Support is tailored to each person and may include one-to-one sessions and group-based programmes, helping individuals to understand their experiences, rebuild confidence, and move towards recovery in a safe and supportive environment.
