The Power of Storytelling

As a story volunteer, you can show other survivors of domestic abuse and sexual violence that they are not alone. Your story can also inspire people to fundraise to support our vital services, and help us amplify the voices of survivors to raise awareness.

Whether you received support recently or years ago, we would love to hear about it, and share your experience to encourage others to reach out for help.

Where do I begin to express my gratitude towards Cyfannol and the wonderful women working there?...

My life started the day I left him. I went to performing arts college, learnt to drive, did a degree, and slowly forged a career in working with children...

LEAP: Use your voice to make a difference

LEAP (Lived Experience Advisory Panel) is a safe, supportive, and non-judgemental space for individuals Cyfannol supports (or has supported) to share their insights and influence our work. The panel’s structure and purpose are co-produced with its members, so it truly reflects their needs, interests, and goals, offering opportunities to influence decisions, shape services and strategy, and contribute to wider conversations in the VAWDASV sector.

Members can expect:

  • Monthly online meetings.

  • A single point of contact to support members throughout.

  • Opportunities to connect and celebrate as a group.

  • Expenses covered for in-person engagements.

  • Tablets provided for accessibility.

  • Training and development opportunities.

If you are interested in joining our LEAP panel, or have any other ideas or suggestions, please reach out to the Engagement and Development Team.

Find support in your area

Cyfannol Women’s Aid delivers support services across Gwent, alongside other organisations. We recognise that some people may prefer to contact a helpline, or a specialist ‘by and for’ organisation. This Directory of local and national services is designed to help you find the right support for you.
