Cyfannol Women’s Aid is pleased to announce that we have been awarded the contract to deliver Children & Young People Domestic Abuse Outreach & Family Support across Caerphilly borough as part of the Families First programme, commencing on 1st April 2026.

Alongside our recently secured Caerphilly VAWDASV support contract, this expansion strengthens our ability to provide joinedup, traumainformed services that respond to the diverse needs of children, young people and families across the borough.

About the service

Under Families First, Cyfannol will provide trauma informed, needs led support for children and young people aged 0–25, as well as their parents and carers. The service is designed to meet the diverse needs of families affected by domestic abuse through a combination of 1:1 support, evidence based group programmes, and tailored family support work.

Support will include:

  • 1:1 Support for Children & Young People

Helping young people understand their experiences, explore feelings safely, build emotional resilience and develop healthy coping strategies. This includes support for young people experiencing abuse in their own relationships.

  • Group Programmes

Specialist support workers will deliver a suite of recognised programmes supporting children and families to understand the impact of domestic abuse and strengthen relationships

  • Family Support & Safety

Working with parents and carers to increase safety, strengthen communication and understand how domestic abuse affects children, including joint parent–child sessions and parenting guidance where appropriate.

Support will be accessible across home, school, community settings, refuge accommodation, and online – depending on what works best for each family.

A coordinated and collaborative approach

Cyfannol will work closely with Supporting Family Change, Children’s Services, housing teams, schools and VAWDASV partners to ensure coordinated, holistic support for families throughout the borough.

Accessing support

Continuity of support remains our priority, and all existing cases and waiting lists are transferring automatically to Cyfannol, with no need for rereferral.
