Cyfannol are remodelling refuge and support services in Newport, broadening the accommodation options for women and creating better pathways for women experiencing multiple disadvantages and barriers.

We are looking for exceptional women to join our team!

Could you be a Group Worker?

Working 15 hours/week, days/times are negotiable, fixed term for 3 years.

You will facilitate a range of group-work programmes for women affected by Violence Against Women, Domestic Abuse and/or Sexual Violence (VAWDASV) that aim to create an understanding of abuse; an understanding of healthy relationships; an understand of the impact of trauma; empower; develop support networks; and build positive futures free of abuse and violence.

What you will need to succeed in this role…..

Every day will be different as you will be working with a diverse group of women and families and will work in partnership with a range of external agencies and colleagues from Cyfannol’s other specialist services. You will be an open minded, non-judgemental person who understands the complexity of domestic abuse and enjoys working with different backgrounds and cultures. A key part of your role will be adapting your communication style to different situations to empower woman to gain independence.

You will be a resilient and robust person who can build trust and relationships with vulnerable people easily. You will be naturally understanding and empathetic in your personality as you will be providing practical and emotional support to clients via a range of methods. You will enjoy variety and change and have the ability to work on your own initiative.   

If you have experience of working with adults and children who have experienced violence against woman domestic abuse and violence (VAWDASV) mental health difficulties and/or substance misuse, we want to hear from you.
