New: Children and Young People Volunteer Training
Due to the development of our services for Children and Young People, we are currently recruiting and training volunteers to work with CYP at points of crises and in coming to terms with recent experience.
We will be running training on the following dates for new Children and Young People Volunteers:
|Day 1||1st October||10-4pm||Abergavenny MAC|
|Day 2||8th October||10-4pm||Abergavenny MAC|
|Day 3||15th October||10-4pm||Abergavenny MAC|
|Day 4||30th October||10-4pm||Abergavenny MAC|
These sessions will equip volunteers to provide meaningful and stimulating opportunities to help children and young people grow in confidence and develop an understanding of the issues they have experienced.
CYP Volunteers will work closely and under the supervision of CYP workers and other staff, supporting:
Children and young people in refuge, through:
- Activity sessions
- 1:1 support – mentor, encourage engagement
Children and Young people in Community, through:
- STAR Club
- STAR Programmes
- 1:1 Support – mentor, encourage engagement
Please note that CYP volunteers are expected to make a commitment for a minimum of 6 months. Following this initial training, the selection process will involve an application form, interviews and DBS check.
